Technical experts at Clarkson Evans have teamed up with another Staverton-based company to produce an innovative bracket set to streamline the process for fitting socket back boxes into stud walls.

Technical Director Leigh Mason and Technical Manager Sheridan Russell are always looking to streamline processes and introduce new materials to provide a better quality finish when wiring new homes.

Following feedback from our electricians, our technical team spent three months designing and commissioning the production of a plastic bracket, which will complement the current timber noggins, used to fix socket back boxes into stud walls.

Using the latest 3D printer technology a prototype of the bracket was produced and samples road-tested on building sites before local Gloucester company Injection Mouldings Ltd was commissioned to produce an injection moulding tool.

Clarkson Evans now owns the registered design for the bracket and 30,000 have already been manufactured for use by our site-based staff.

“We’ve had a genuinely positive reaction to the bracket from our electricians, as the new product is easier to fit and more accurate than its timber counterpart. Staff are already saying they couldn’t do without them now,” said Leigh Mason, Technical Director at Clarkson Evans.

There are many benefits to the new plastic moulded bracket:

- It eliminates the health and safety risks of cutting and fixing timber noggins on site
- Installation time is considerably reduced
- Greater accuracy in ensuring the back boxes for plug sockets are set to the correct depth

“We would rather roll up our sleeves and find a solution to a problem that improves the service we provide to our customers than put up with processes and materials that don’t quite hit the mark,” said Leigh.

Clarkson Evans now owns the registered design rights for the new bracket. Following its successful launch the company now intend to develop further electrical products that will benefit our house builder customers.
