Clarkson Evans, Gloucestershire’s only Top 100 Apprentice Employer, is offering professional office-based apprenticeships for the first time.

The Staverton-based company, which sponsors Gloucestershire’s Apprentice 1000 campaign, has just taken on its first office-based apprentice.

18-year-old Jason Merrett, from Cheltenham, joined Clarkson Evans in August as an IT apprentice after finishing his A-levels at Balcarras School in Charlton Kings.

He is the first office-based apprentice to join the UK’s leading electrical contractor, working at the company’s head office in Gloucester.

“Clarkson Evans has a great reputation as an award-winning apprenticeship provider, so it’s comforting to know that I’m undertaking my apprenticeship with a company that really values and supports its apprentices,” said Jason.

The IT enthusiast is part of the team helping to manage Clarkson Evans’ national infrastructure network across 17 branches.  Through his apprenticeship he’s working towards industry standard qualifications and gaining the experience that will set him up for a long-term career with the company.

Now Clarkson Evans has teamed up with Gloucestershire College to offer an accountancy apprenticeship role in the firm’s 14-strong finance department, led by Finance Director Paula Bradshaw, who has recently joined the company from SuperGroup Plc.

“For years Clarkson Evans has seen the benefits of employing site-based apprentices, so it’s the natural next step to offer apprenticeships for office-based roles too,” said Paula.

Clarkson Evans is the UK’s leading electrical contractor employing over 750 members of staff across the country. The electrical giant has grown beyond recognition over the years as it is set for further expansion in 2017.
