Clarkson Evans was among some of the top businesses and employers invited to attend a special reception at 10 Downing Street, hosted recently by Prime Minister David Cameron and Business Secretary Sajid Javid.

The leading electrical contractor was flying the flag for Gloucestershire and the construction industry, rubbing shoulders with national heavyweights such as Sainsbury’s, BAE Systems, Deloitte and the Adecco Group.

The event was organised to bring together organisations in the private and public sector that recognise the benefits apprenticeships can generate for businesses, as well as the opportunities they provide for young people.

Clarkson Evans HR & Training Director Lindsey Young had an opportunity to chat to Prime Minister David Cameron and share information about the company’s award-winning apprenticeship scheme.

Business Secretary Sajid Javid said: “Three million more apprenticeships by 2020 means even more life-changing opportunities for our young people. More than that, apprenticeships make sense for business. That’s why some of the country’s top business leaders are coming together to bang the drum for apprenticeships.

“We are putting employers at the heart of quality apprenticeships so that young people get the skills they need to succeed. Today we are celebrating everything that apprenticeships have to offer businesses and young people.”

Lindsey was delighted to join the select group of apprentice employers invited to the reception. She said: “I was there among all the leading apprenticeship employers, the likes of BT, Lloyds Bank and BAE Systems and felt honoured to have the opportunity to celebrate the benefits of apprenticeship training.”
