Buzz of electrical firm proving a popular career choice among families

Sparking up a career at Clarkson Evans is proving to be a popular choice within families.

The electrical giant seems to be the workplace of choice for families as increasing numbers of existing staff are encouraging their relatives to join the company.

The firm now has eight sets of siblings working for the company across its 17-branch network.

Many family members now work for the company including the Clubley brothers (below), after Gloucester-based electrician Anthony Clubley recommended the company to his brother:

“Becoming an electrician at Clarkson Evans was one of the best career moves I’ve made. I recommended Clarkson Evans to my younger brother George as I knew the company would offer him the chance to earn a lot of money with long-term prospects,” said Anthony.

In fact, 70% of Clarkson Evans’ current team leaders and managers are former apprentices.

Family members have joined the company across Clarkson Evans’ 17-strong branch network, including in Gloucester, Southampton, Bristol and Telford.

Bristol-based electrician Mark Llewellyn recommended an electrical apprenticeship to his brother Dean.

“Clarkson Evans has a reputation for being a fantastic electrical training provider. My brother was keen to get into the trade so I knew an apprenticeship with the company would be ideal for him,” said Mark, a Senior Team Leader at Clarkson Evans.

Thanks to Mark’s recommendation, his brother Dean is now thriving as an electrical apprentice. “When my brother told me great things about the company and its apprenticeship programme, I knew I couldn’t pass up the opportunity,” said Dean.

Now the brothers have joined forces on new build sites across Bristol: “We work alongside each other every day and we have even wired houses together on site! We get on really well so it’s great we are able to work together,” explained Dean.

Clarkson Evans’ HR & Training Director, Lindsey Young said: “Clarkson Evans started as a family run business and while it has grown beyond recognition the company still adopts the same family values.”

“We’ve seen an increase in the number of relatives of our current employees joining the company after being recommended to us which means we must be doing something right in terms of long-term career opportunities,” Lindsey continued.

With 750 employees and growing, even more families could have more than one pair of muddy boots on their doormat in 2017.
