Clarkson Evans was one of the big winners at the RoSPA Health and Safety Awards 2017.

The electrical giant walked away with two awards from the prestigious annual scheme run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

Clarkson Evans’ Health and Safety Manager, Matthew Gilbank, was presented with The President’s Award and The Fleet Safety Silver Award by Michael Parker CBE, Chairman of RoSPA.

It’s the second year running that Clarkson Evans has received a President’s Award, given only to organisations that have achieved at least 10 consecutive Gold RoSPA Awards. It’s a highly prized kitemark that acknowledges well developed occupational health and safety management systems as well as outstanding control of risk and very low levels of accidents.

Meanwhile Clarkson Evans achieved a Fleet Safety Silver Award for the first time, recognising excellence in managing occupational road risk – something very relevant to a company which now has a fleet of over 400 commercial vehicles.

“As an employer in the new build construction industry, we take our health and safety responsibilities extremely seriously. The safety of our staff is a key priority so it’s great to receive recognition for our high standards”, said Mr Gilbank.

“The Fleet Safety Silver Award acknowledges our commitment to minimising road risk for our site-based staff. We’ve worked hard to reduce accidents and educate our drivers so we’re particularly pleased to receive this award for the first time in our history,” he continued.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s Head of Awards and Events said: “The RoSPA Awards are the most prestigious in the world of occupational health and safety, and held in high regard around the world, as winning one demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record. Achieving the standard required is no mean feat.”

The awards were achieved during RoSPA’s centenary year.
