Stepping Stone Apprenticeship
 

about the course:
This course is available to 16 – 18 year olds and is government funded.  Students may be able to claim EMA, subject to household income. 

Training follows the same early stages as an Advanced Apprenticeship and is suitable for young people who have not yet secured employment in the electrical industry.  The intention is for students to progress to a full Advanced Apprenticeship once they have found suitable employment.

Note that the course does not include on-the-job experience, although site visits will be arranged.

The course covers the City & Guilds 2330 Level 2 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology and Key Skills. 

The 2330 Level 2 is one of the technical certificates completed during an Advanced Apprenticeship.  It includes the following topics:

  • Working effectively and safely in an electrotechnical environment
  • Principles of electrotechnology
  • Installation

The Key Skills qualifications included are as follows:

  • Application of Number Level 2
  • Communication Level 2
  • Information and Communication Technology Level 1
Students will also receive careers guidance designed to help them get a job in the electrical industry (i.e. CV and letter writing and interview techniques).
 
   
Programme Led
course duration:

9 months, with college attendance on 3 days a week. Full details will be provided on application. We anticipate that students will work elsewhere part-time for 2 days a week.

 

assessment:
Assessment is through a series of multiple-choice on-line exams and practical assessments that are undertaken in our training centre.

 
pre-requisites:
Students are expected to have GCSE grades A-C in English, Maths and a science subject.
