Liam Brookbanks
Former Apprentice, now Area Supervisor

"From the outset I was impressed by the
in-house training facilities for apprentices at Clarkson Evans."

Former Marlborough School student Liam Brookbanks fell into a part-time job with a national supermarket chain after completing his A-levels.

But after four years, Liam realised that working in retail was not a long-term option. One of his friends, himself an electrician, sparked Liam’s interest in working in the industry and encouraged him to apply for an apprenticeship at Clarkson Evans.

“I picked up many transferrable skills from my time in retail which proved useful during my apprenticeship. Being organised, having a customer focused attitude and being a team player is a must in this industry,” said Liam.

Now six years after starting his apprenticeship, Liam is an Area Supervisor at the company’s Oxford branch.

“From the outset I was impressed by the in-house training facilities for apprentices at Clarkson Evans”, said Liam.

Liam racked-up significant experience ‘on the tools’ before being promoted to Area Supervisor.

“My role as Area Supervisor involves overseeing 17 teams working on just under 50 active new build housing sites across Oxfordshire. I’m the first point of contact for our customers and electricians, helping to ensure we maximise our productivity.”

“The support network at Clarkson Evans is fantastic. From apprentices to senior management - the support is in place to ensure everyone gets the guidance needed to progress within the company.

“Thanks to the support I’ve received, I have been able to fast-track into my current role. In the future I hope to become a Regional Production Manager and look after several branches,” added Liam.

Lindsey Young, Clarkson Evans’ HR & Training Director said: “Liam’s career progression shows the opportunities that are there for talented people who are not shy of taking responsibility.”
