Clarkson Evans is the new club sponsor for one of Gloucester’s thriving rugby clubs, Spartans RFC.

Managing Director Nathan Evans played for the club for a big part of his rugby career and is a former Spartans’ club captain.

The sponsorship deal will support the electrical contractor’s recruitment strategy, raising the profile of Clarkson Evans among electricians and would-be apprentices in the South West.

Various training kit and team shirts will be adorned with the distinctive Clarkson Evans logo when the 1st XV hope to make an instant impact in the Gloucester 1 rugby division, after being promoted at the end of last season.

Clarkson Evans specialises in wiring new homes for the UK’s major housing developers, wiring around 1 in 10 of all new properties built in England and Wales last year.

“We’re proud to begin our association with Spartans RFC – it is vital to encourage people to lead active lives and learn life skills through sport, such as teamwork and resilience,” said Nathan Evans, Managing Director at Clarkson Evans.

Lloyd Fisher, Chairman of Spartans RFC, was grateful for Clarkson Evans’ support. He said: “It’s an exciting time for the club as we move into the Gloucester 1 division. We are grateful to Nathan and Clarkson Evans in sponsoring the club – financial support of this kind is essential to grassroots rugby clubs such as ours.”

Clarkson Evans’ award-winning training, strong team spirit and excellent career prospects mean the company’s local apprenticeship opportunities are in high demand.

Would-be apprentices need to have a natural knack for all things practical and the dedication and drive to work alongside a team of committed electricians. They need to be aged 18 , hold a full driving licence and have good GCSE grades in English and maths.

Applications are currently open for new apprentices in Gloucester. Those who are interested should apply online at
