We’re looking for an experienced electrical lecturer to join the team that provides award-winning training for our apprentices. 

Our thriving training division now employs 24 staff and at our purpose-built centres we’re busy training over 250 apprentices. Backed up by the resources of our £55m turnover electrical contracting business, our training arm has been in business for 20 years and continues to expand.

We’re the proud recipients of a Princess Royal Training Award and winners of the Apprentice Employer of the Year prize at the Annual Apprenticeships Conference.  In 2017 we were highly commended at the south west regional stage of the National Apprenticeship Awards.

We’re not like most other electrical training providers or FE colleges so if you’re looking for an electrical lecturing role with a difference, read on to find out more about what makes us different.

  • All of the apprentices we train are employed by Clarkson Evans.  This means they’ve been selected for their determined attitude and they must show the dedication we expect
  • Our apprentices are older than you might expect – on average they’re in their early 20s when they start and some are 40 plus
  • We have a dedicated Apprenticeship Management Team, which supports our lecturers with pastoral care issues
  • We invest in practical facilities as required to maximise the quality of the training we provide, never cutting corners
  • We’re progressive and forward-thinking, being one of the first providers to deliver the new ‘Trailblazer’ Standard for electrical apprentices

  • Ever-increasing volumes of apprentices have been keeping us busy year after year, providing stability and opportunities for our training team

You’ll be based at our centre in Nechells, Birmingham but will also need to assist with training in Gloucester, Milton Keynes and Nottingham when required.    

You must be a qualified electrician (NVQ3) and qualified teacher (Level 5 teaching qualification or equivalent).  Good IT skills are also important (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint).  And in terms of character, you’ll fit in well if you’re a ‘people person’ with an upbeat personality and a supportive, encouraging approach.  Because things move on quickly here and we’re always open to new ideas, you’ll also need to be someone who embraces change and the opportunities it brings.

Our staff work a 39-hour week, Monday to Friday, including an early finish on Fridays.  Holiday entitlement starts at 22 days (plus bank holidays), increasing to 26 days with length of service.  We offer free breakfasts for all staff.
