Employee Relations Advisor

Job Title
Employee Relations Advisor

Employee Relations Advisor

£27k to £30k

We’re an ambitious company and we’re growing. To support this expansion, we’re now looking for someone who’d like to build on their employee relations experience by stepping up into an Employee Relations Advisor role.

Based at our head office in Staverton, Gloucester, you will support our HR Operations Manager in making sure day-to-day procedures run smoothly and in providing ER guidance for managers across the business. You’ll often be the first point of contact to advise on welfare, performance and disciplinary issues but you’ll do so with the support of a team of experienced colleagues and access to specialist employment law advisors.

You’ll be used to working in a fast-paced, flexible organisation where there isn’t a detailed handbook to tell you the answers to all questions or cast-iron processes to follow. Having said that, you’ll also need to be the kind of person who values straightforward procedures and understands when they do and don’t need to be followed.

Key responsibilities:

  • Disciplinary and grievance procedures: advising managers, supporting investigations, jointly chairing hearings and referring  complex cases on to the HR Operations Manager
  • Sickness absence monitoring - taking proactive steps to manage excessive or long-term absenteeism
  • Organising and managing all aspects of our family-friendly processes, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed.
  • Assisting the HR Operations Manager in preparing reports for Board meetings
  • Managing data contained in the HR system, ensuring it is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Responding efficiently to ad-hoc HR related queries on a day-to-day basis.
  • Undertaking ad-hoc projects as and when required.

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in an ER role, including conducting key processes such as disciplinary hearings
  • Experience of providing guidance on a wide range of employment-related issues, ensuring associated risks are highlighted
  • Confident communicator and skilled influencer who quickly engages with staff at all levels, building effective working relationships
  • Working understanding of UK employment law
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office efficiently
  • Resilient and able to work under pressure
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing requirements
  • Committed, proactive team player who’s willing to go the extra mile to complete tasks promptly and meet internal customer expectations
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion
  • User of HRIS

The role is based at our head office in Staverton, Gloucester but the nature of your role will involve occasional travel to our other branches.

Our normal working hours are 39 hours a week, Monday to Friday, including an early finish on Fridays. Holiday entitlement starts at 22 days.

Please read these instructions carefully before starting your application.
