Warehouse Apprentice

Job Title
Warehouse Apprentice

Branch
Gloucester

£180 PER WEEK

You’ll join the busy team responsible for ensuring that our electricians are provided with the correct materials each day.  Our stores team plays a vital part in the slick operation which allows us to wire over 20,000 new homes a year across the country.

As a warehouse apprentice you’ll learn most of the skills needed on-the-job.  These include how to handle goods inwards and outgoing deliveries effectively, order fulfilment and replenishing stock.

On a daily basis you’ll be involved in a range of duties including:

  • Effectively loading and unloading vehicles, ensuring there is no damage to goods and that safe manual handling procedures are followed
  • Receiving stock returns and processing them accurately back into stock
  • Picking and packing orders for our electricians
  • Processing waste into appropriate categories for collection

Full training will be provided, including Forklift Truck Operator training.

We’re always looking to make improvements and streamline the way we operate so we’ll be interested in any ideas you may have for positive changes.

Like all other members of the team you’ll also play an important role in making sure we maintain high standards of health and safety in what could otherwise be a hazardous environment.

As for the type of person we’re looking for, you’ll need to be someone who:

  • Is able to work under pressure to meet tight daily deadlines.
  • Has good communication skills, including a courteous and helpful manner.
  • Is comfortable with basic IT, including handheld scanners.
  • Has excellent attendance and timekeeping.
  • Is a natural team player who’ll step in to help others and make sure they don’t let the team down.
  • Uses their initiative where appropriate

On successfully completing your apprenticeship you’ll have the opportunity to progress within the team and we’re looking for someone who shows strong potential to build a long-term career with us. To fit this mould, you will need to be flexible, trustworthy and reliable, and show plenty of ‘get up and go’.

Working hours will be 8am – 5pm, with an hour for lunch each day, although you may be asked to change to a 7am – 4 pm or 9am – 6pm shift.
