OUR HISTORY

Clarkson Evans started from very humble beginnings in 1981 when our founder, Steve Evans, established SP Evans Electrical Contractor and soon decided to specialise in wiring new homes. The business expanded slowly in the 1980s and began to employ apprentices, one of whom was Steve Clarkson.

By the early 1990s, the two Steves had formed Clarkson Evans and were building relationships with house builders beyond Gloucestershire. Continued growth prompted a move to commercial premises with room for in-house training and in 1999 we opened the doors to our first purpose-built centre.

Having the facilities to train apprentices in-house was the launchpad for further expansion and this has continued to be vital to our ongoing growth. Between 2010 to 2015 we opened several new branches and started to operate on a truly national scale.

We now work for all of the leading housebuilders and we’re diversifying into renewable technologies. In 2022 we acquired a majority stake in solar PV specialists Futurelec, which has rebranded to become Clarkson Evans Solar. This division of our business provides PV and battery storage solutions for new-housing developments as well as commercial premises.
