  • Who is this course for?

    This course is designed for qualified electricians who want to gain or update the knowledge required to install electric vehicle (EV) charging points in accordance with the latest industry regulations. Delegates must be at least 18 years old and hold a current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification (such as City & Guilds 2382) along with a qualification covering initial verification.

  • What are the entry requirements?

    A current 18th Edition Regulations qualification such as 2382 and a qualification covering initial verification.


    Minimum age requirement is 18.


    Important: Entry requirements are that you must hold one of the following qualifications:

    • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment).
    • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance).
    • Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification.
    • Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker.
    • Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services - Electrical Installation.
    • (Building and Structures).
    • Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification.
    • Level 3 Electrotechnical in Dwellings.
    • EAL Building Services Engineering (Level 3) - Electrotechnical Installation.

  • What will you learn?

    The EAL 3929 - Level 3 Award in the Requirements for the Installation of Electric Vehicle Charging Points course is taught in classes of up to twelve delegates and covers the following topics:

    • A scientific calculator.
    • Pen and paper.
    • Textbooks can be provided on loan during the course but cannot be taken off-site.
    • Lunch is not provided on the day, however, a food van will be available offering hot and cold food options.

The Level 3 Award in Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations (City & Guilds 2391-52) course is designed for experienced electricians looking to gain, refresh or formalise their inspection and testing qualifications. Covering both the initial verification of new electrical installations and the periodic inspection and testing of existing installations, this comprehensive course combines essential theory with practical application, equipping delegates with the knowledge and confidence to carry out inspections, interpret test results and complete industry-standard certification and reporting documentation.


This qualification also meets the inspection and testing qualification requirement for electricians applying to join the NICEIC Approved Contractor Scheme. Delivered over four days, followed by a dedicated assessment day, the course provides an efficient route to achieving this highly respected qualification. For those wishing to further develop their practical skills and increase confidence ahead of the assessment, an optional practical training day is also available.

  • Who is this course for?

    This course is intended for experienced electricians aged 18 or over who hold a relevant Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification and are looking to gain or update their inspection and testing qualifications. It is ideal for those who need to demonstrate competence in carrying out the initial verification of new electrical installations and the periodic inspection and testing of existing installations, including electricians working towards NICEIC Approved Contractor status.


    As this is an advanced qualification, it is not suitable for those who are new to the electrical industry or who do not already possess the practical skills, knowledge and experience required to carry out inspection and testing safely and competently. Although not a mandatory entry requirement, delegates are strongly recommended to have a good working knowledge of the current BS 7671 Wiring Regulations before attending the course.

  • What are the entry requirements?

    Relevant Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification.


    Minimum age requirement is 18.


    This is an advanced course and is not suitable for delegates who are new to the industry and/or do not possess sufficient skills, knowledge, and experience to undertake inspection and testing safely and competently. While not mandatory, delegates should have a good working knowledge of the current BS7671 Wiring Regulations.

  • What are the entry requirements?

    This qualification is intended for practising electricians. Delegates must hold a recognised electrical qualification that demonstrates occupational competence. Examples include:

It is also the responsibility of the person making the booking to ensure that delegates meet any necessary pre-requisites and are of the appropriate literacy and numeracy level for the course being booked. If you are unsure of a delegate’s suitability, please contact us before booking.


    Delegate Substitutions

    If you would like to make a delegate substitution, please contact trainingadmin@clarksonevans.co.uk. Depending on the course an administration charge may be incurred to cover awarding body fees.


    Non-attendance

    If you are unable to attend due to exceptional circumstances a new date may be offered at our discretion, depending on when the course starts.


    Cancellation or Rescheduling

    Clarkson Evans reserves the right to cancel or reschedule assessments at any stage, although we try to avoid this and will give as much notice as possible. Delegates should ensure that contact details are up to date so that we can contact you if necessary. If an assessment for which payment has already been received must be cancelled or rescheduled by Clarkson Evans, the option of a full refund will be offered. However, Clarkson Evans cannot be held liable for other costs incurred by delegates because of cancellation or rescheduling (such as travel or accommodation).


    Delegates who wish to cancel or reschedule a course which has been confirmed may do so without penalty if the booking is cancelled 14 or more days prior to the course start date. Bookings cancelled less than 14 days before the scheduled start date may be subject to an administration charge at the discretion of Clarkson Evans and dependant on the circumstances of the cancellation.


    Delegates who fail to attend or who arrive unprepared on the day of the course (and thus are unable to attend) (e.g., fail to bring suitable identification) will not be eligible for a refund. Depending on availability, we will work to reschedule where possible.
