Comedian Tony Hawks congratulated electrical apprentices who recently completed their training with Clarkson Evans at the company’s latest annual apprenticeship celebration event.

Mr Hawks handed out awards to 20 newly qualified electricians from Clarkson Evans at the Apprenticeship Presentation Evening, at the Hatherley Manor Hotel, in Gloucester.

Nathan Evans, Managing Director of Clarkson Evans said: “As a former Clarkson Evans apprentice myself I know firsthand how hard our staff work to qualify as electricians. Inviting each “graduating” electrician to the stage to collect their award and witnessing them enjoying their moment in the spotlight makes me feel extremely proud.”

“We don’t just teach apprentices the trade. To us, it’s much more than that – we give them the opportunity to make something of their lives by progressing long-term careers within the company,” he added.

Many of the former apprentices themselves recognise how much they have achieved and several are now beginning to plan for the future, with a long-term career ahead of them.

Apprentice electricians from Oxford, Crawley and Bracknell qualifying

Former Gloucester apprentice, now qualified electrician Ricky Jones said: “Joining Clarkson Evans has been a life-changing experience. Before I joined the company I was working as a sales advisor in a mobile phone shop for 10 years. At the age of 28, the company took a chance on me. There is no doubt that they’ll have an employee for life in me.”

Clarkson Evans has experienced significant growth since the company was established 35 years ago. Now the company has over 750 staff and recruits apprentices across its network of 17 branches. Last year the company wired one in 10 new homes built across England and Wales for national house builders such as Taylor Wimpey, Persimmon Homes, Barratt and David Wilson.

The company is currently recruiting its latest batch of apprentices to start in early 2017. Vacancies are available in Gloucester, Trowbridge, Bracknell, Southampton, Exeter, Cardiff and Oxford. Visit to apply online.
